Rangers, CTD claim arresting terrorist from Karachi

KARACHI: Sindh Rangers and police’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in a joint intelligence-based operation in Karachi’s Shershah area on Wednesday arrested a suspected militant linked to banned outfit Jundullah.According to Rangers spokesman, on intelligence information, the Rangers and CTD police apprehended the suspected militant, Khan Badshah alias Umar Farooq alias Khan alias Bahaduri allegedly involved in orchestrated major acts of terrorism, bank robberies, kidnappings and target killings in Karachi from 2007 to 2018.

Citing initial investigation, the Rangers’ spokesman said that the arrested accused was involved in transporting a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Wazirstan to Karachi. He said later the weapons were used in an encounter with CTD police in Shah Latif Town on 2007.

The Rangers official said the suspect was also involved in looting Rs 4700,000 from PICIC Commercial Bank branches on Rashid Minhas Road and Malir Halt after injuring a security guard during 2007 to 2008.

The terrorist was also involved in looting Rs 3,000,000 from Muslim Commercial Bank branch situated Dawood Chowrangi on 2008.On 2017, the accused looted Rs 3,000,000 from Al-Habib Bank branch in Liaquat market after killing a police cop and two security guards during resistance.

The spokesman added that the arrested terrorist was involved in several target killing cases in Karachi’s Ittehad town on 2013.

The accused escaped during a police encounter with police in Shah Latif town on 2010, said the Rangers’ spokesman.
