LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Punjab’s former minister Aleem Khan on Tuesday suffered a major and unexpected dent to his pocket by losing a wristwatch worth Rs15million from Kot Lakhpat Jail.
According to details provided by local media outlets, the ministers luxury watch was stolen from the prison, where he is currently on remand in connection with investigations into his assets beyond known sources of income.
The politician said that the watch was a gift from his father and said that the jail administration had a hand in its theft.
Although the jail administration denied the allegation, the Punjab Inspector General of Prisons (IGP) has ordered an inquiry into the matter.
It is pertinent to mention here that no prisoner is allowed to keep personal belongings, especially expensive items while in captivity. A fact the jail administration highlighted while denying the PTI leader’s accusations.
