SHCC imposes fine on Darul Sehat Hospital for medical negligence

KARACHI: The Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) has imposed fine of Rs500,000 on Darul Sehat Hospital of Gulistan-e-Johar Karachi over grave medical negligence in handling the case of infant Nashwa who was allegedly injected with the wrong dosage of drugs at this hospital a few days and she later died in another private hospital during treatment.

SHCC Chief Executive Officer Dr Minhaj Qidwai said a fine of Rs500,000 was imposed on Darul Sehat Hospital for its medical negligence.

He said hospital management has been directed to send concerned staff to the regulatory council for disciplinary action.

The Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) committee has recommended that the untrained staff should be immediately sacked, while in-charge of recruitment should also be terminated. It recommended that DUS Hospital should constitute a code blue team as per international recommendation to provide timely critical care to serious patients.
