LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Wednesday openly extended his party ‘s support to provincial chief minister Usman Buzdar.

Speaking to reporters, the leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), which is ally of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, said “Changes in the cabinet are the prime minister and chief minister’s privilege.”

“It is entirely the prime minister’s authority to appoint whoever as minister on the basis of performance,” Elahi added.

“Our party is strongly with Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and all our meetings are to strengthen him,” the Punjab Assembly speaker continued.

Elahi said that differences within and outside the party are “the beauty of politics”. You have to put aside several things and move forward, the PML-Q leader stated.

Rejecting reports regarding contacting leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Elahi said, “Neither any contact was made nor did Chaudhry Shujaat meet anyone from PML-N and Monis Elahi does not need to meet anyone. The report regarding a meeting between Monis and Hamza Shehbaz is incorrect”
