LAHORE: Estranged Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan is expected to take oath as a member of Punjab Assembly (MPA) later this week, a private media outlet has reported.
Nisar — who had contested the 2018 general elections from two National Assembly and two provincial seats — could only manage to secure his PA-10 constituency seat. He has not taken his oath till date though.
Reportedly, Nisar can replace Sardar Usman Buzdar as Punjab Chief Minister as the premier is not happy with his performance as the chief administrator of the province. However, the prime minister had expressed confidence in the leadership of his chief ministers, Usman Buzdar and Mahmood Khan, in a meeting on Saturday.
Reportedly, Prime Minister Imran Khan also gave an assessment criterion to the Punjab Chief Minister to assess the performance of cabinet members and, if deemed necessary, replace them.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, while speaking to a local news outlet, dismissed the news of former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan being a likely replacement for Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in the future.
