The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, Amer Ali Ahmed finalized on Friday the security arrangements for mosques and imambargahs during the holy month of Ramadan. This was done in a meeting held with religious scholars of different sects
Sources revealed to Pakistan Today that it was agreed in the meeting that the mosques committee would ensure the internal security of worship places. This would be done by taking several steps such as installing metal detectors at mosque entrances, using only one gate of mosques at a time and deploying volunteers at the gate during prayer timings to keeping watch.
A spokesman for the ICT said that in the meeting, all of the religious leaders had unanimously endorsed the code of conduct issued by the Auqaf Department Islamabad and vowed to its strict implementation during the holy month. The religious leaders also assured their complete co-operation to the administration in order to maintain the atmosphere of brotherhood and religious harmony.
The spokesman also revealed that religious leaders had ensured compliance with the loudspeaker ordinance 1963 which stipulated that the volume of loudspeakers be kept low. The spokesman added that that another agreement had been reached according which religious leaders would inform the administration and police in advance about the holding religious gatherings
