FAISALABAD: Motorway police has banned the entry of all those public transport vehicles that travel without fog lights on motorway, to avoid accidents.
Motorway Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nisar Ahmed Saroya has directed the motorway police M3 section between Lahore and Faisalabad to challan the vehicles that violate the fog light rules.
M3 Section has already launched a crack down against the violators and 100 public transport vehicles including passenger coaches, wagons and buses are caught.
Faisalabad Motorway M3 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Malik Asghar Awan and Admin Officer Faisal Gul told the journalists that they started imposing fines after undertaking an extensive one-week awareness campaign asking the drivers to install fog lights in their vehicles.
No public transport vehicle would be allowed to enter the Motorway from interchanges of Faisalabad unless it was equipped with fog lights, DSP said adding that heavy transport vehicles such as trucks and trailers would also be brought under the fog lights regulations.
Motorway police have decided to challan the vehicles for under-speeding as well and, for this reason, about 300 light vehicles are given warning slips to comply with the speed regulations.
