A Karachi Development Authority (KDA) official has died while being in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

According to reports, KDA Additional Director Nasir Sheikh was admitted to Civil Hospital Karachi where he passed away on Saturday.

Sheikh was arrested for his alleged involvement in ‘China cutting’.

Another KDA official Qavi Khan had also died while in NAB custody.

Sheikh and Khan were allegedly involved in the illegal construction and sale/purchase of plots in a housing scheme named “University Hill Villas” located in Block 1 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Scheme-36 of KDA, and also on land reserved for water conduit and high-tension transmission of the K-Electric.

The accountability watchdog had initiated an inquiry following revelations about land-grabbing by certain builders and KDA officers arrested in the Karachi operation.
