LAHORE: An accountability court on Tuesday extended the judicial remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aleem Khan till April 11, in a case pertaining to the ownership of offshore companies and alleged possession of assets beyond declared sources of income.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) produced the PTI stalwart before the court to seek an extension in his remand.

During the hearing, the court asked the anti-graft prosecutor regarding the progress made so far in the investigation. The court was informed that investigation is underway and more time is required for its completion.

Upon asking why the bureau has not filed a reference in the court yet, the court was informed that the reference will be filed once the investigation is completed.

The court then ordered to produce the former senior minister on April 11.

Earlier on March 18, an accountability court extended the judicial remand of Aleem Khan till April 2.

He was arrested by the NAB in Lahore on February 6. He faces multiple inquiries, including one involving offshore company Hexam Investment Overseas Ltd, one for owning assets beyond his known sources of income, and inquiries into his involvement in the Park View Housing Society, River Age Housing Society, and Multan Road.

Following the detention, he resigned from the post of Punjab’s local government minister.

During the last hearing of the case, the accountability court in Lahore had extended the judicial remand of Khan until March 18.
