ISLAMABAD: Mayor of Islamabad Sheikh Anser Aziz has said in the current financial year, each member of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) would be allocated Rs50 million for his respective union counsel.
The mayor informed this while presiding over the 35th session of MCI meeting on another day, which approved the minutes of its 34th session.
The meeting was attended by members and officers of different formations of MCI.
On this occasion, the members have briefed about the three years of MCI’s progress.
The mayor briefed the members about prominent achievements.
He said the MCI had exhibited better performance despite the fact that it was a new organization and the circumstances were not favourable as well.
He said with the passage of time, hurdles would be further removed and progress of the MCI would be improved further so that the residents could get the fruits of the local government system.
He further said after the allocation of funds by the federal government, more development initiatives would be taken.
Aziz further informed the house that MCI had provided water connection and 1122 rescue services in the rural areas of the city while fire brigade service and sanitation services would be also provided there as tenders in that regard would be issued soon.
He further said four Sewerage Treatment Plants were being installed in the rural areas.
The members of the MCI also discussed the issues of their respective union counsels in detail.
