KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday dismissed pleas against punishment of two convicted criminals in extortion and murder of a businessman.
The high court while hearing the pleas filed by Asghar and Fateh against punishment, ordered for continuance of the sentence awarded to them in murder and extortion case.
However, the court acquitted another accused, Yaseen Gulzar, after 9 years of imprisonment.
According to police sources, the accused had demanded Rs0.5million extortion from a businessman in the jurisdiction of Pakistan Bazaar police station. However, the businessman refused to fulfil their demand, and the accused shot him dead.
After the crime was proved on accused, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) had awarded life-term imprisonment to them.
