Three-day Jashan-e-Daman festival begins in Tank

PESHAWAR: Hundreds and thousands of enthusiastic youngsters including children and some elders were largely attracted when the traditional Jashan-e-Daman got under way at District Tank under the aegis of District Govt on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner Tank Shahrukh Ali Khan and District Nazim Tank Mustafa Gundi graced the occasion as guests and formally inaugurated the three-day traditional festivity that including a colourful opening ceremony with school children and all the participating teams presented a Smart March Past, followed by National Anthem, melodious national song, well-prepared skits and stunning firework.

There were a jam-packed spectators’ fences all around the main ground wherein horse dances stole the show, followed by Ten-Pegging competition.

The festival would continue for three days also include shooting competitions, dog race, traditional kabaddi and musical show. The aim and objective of the festivity is to provide healthy entertainment to the people of District Tank which badly suffered due to insurgency and militancy, Deputy Commissioner Shahrukh Ali Khan during his inaugural speech said.

“We want to give health entertainment to our youth and that is why the decision was taken to hold the traditional Janshan-e-Daman Festival.

He also requested the people to come and enjoy the festival meant for creating brotherhood,” he added.

Nazim Tank Mustafa Kundi appreciated the officials of the law enforcing agencies, police and jawan of security forces for rendered matchless sacrifices for ensuring normalcy in the district Tank and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He also paid rich tribute to those who rendered their unmatched sacrifices for the just cause of providing a healthier and conducive environment to our future generation. He said such activities would be organised on a regular basis. He said the festival would also keep away the upcoming youngsters from bad habits.
