Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary has said that the government is making efforts to achieve six to seven percent growth rate in order to fulfill the promise of providing 10 million jobs to the youth.

In an interview on Friday, he said the survey of International Republican Institute has once again confirmed that Prime Minister Imran Khan is the most popular leader of the country and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) are not even close to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s popularity.

He said 83 per cent respondents have also reposed their confidence on the transparency and impartiality of the general election. This shows the confidence of the people on the electoral system.

He said the people also stand by democracy as 59 percent of respondents have thrown their weight behind the system.

Responding to a question about the mass shooting incident at Christchurch, the Information Minister said this attack on Muslims is a manifestation that Islamophobia is penetrating into Western society.

He said extremism is the most serious global issue and close international cooperation is required to deal with it.
