–PPP chairman seeks better healthcare for ex-prime minister

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Sunday said that his meeting with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has nothing to do with politics, demanding better health facilities for the ex-premier.

Chairing a meeting of PPP’s parliamentary members of Punjab, Bilawal said that there was no political agenda behind his meeting with Nawaz Sharif. He said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s illness should be treated seriously.

According to reports, the PPP delegation would comprise Bilawal Bhutto, Hassan Murtaza, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Jameel Soomro and others.

Earlier in the day, the PPP chairman chaired a parliamentary party meeting in Lahore where he discussed various political matters of the province.

Before the meeting, PPP Punjab Information Secretary Syed Hassan Murtaza said they will discuss the performance of the parliamentary party.

“[PPP] Chairman [Bilawal] will issue guidelines to the party leaders in the wake of present political situation,” Murtaza said.

On Saturday, the PPP chairman’s formal application to meet Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo, to inquire about his health, was accepted by Punjab’s health department.

The meeting will take place on Monday at the Kot Lakhpat jail.

Punjab Chief Minister’s Spokesperson Shahbaz Gill said in his statement that Bilawal would be allowed to meet Sharif in accordance with jail regulations.

The spokesperson clarified that the Punjab government has no objections over the meeting and it issued directives to jail administration in this regard.

Reports said that the PPP chairman wanted to meet the imprisoned PML-N supremo during Sunday but it was postponed due to Bilawal’s busy schedule.
