Zardari, Karzai united against terrorism

President Asif Ali Zardari and Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday resolved to continue the fight against terrorism and extremism until the restoration of peace in the region. The one-on-one meeting between the two presidents, held at the Afghan Presidential Palace, focused on a range of issues that included terrorism, bilateral relations, transit trade and regional situation with a specific reference to the Afghan scenario after the start of the US troops’ withdrawal.
President Zardari, who arrived for a daylong visit to Afghaistan, also offered condolences over the over the death of Karzai’s younger brother, Ahmed Wali Karzai. Briefing reporters, president’s spokesman Farhatullah Babar said President Zardari told his Afghan counterpart that Pakistan was a strong supporter of Afghanistan’s peace and stability. He said Pakistan believed that the solution to Afghan problems rested with its people, who must be given opportunity to decide about their future.
