Erdogan lauds PM Imran’s efforts for de-escalation with India

ISLAMABAD: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has appreciated Pakistan for its efforts for de-escalation of tensions with India and announcement to release the captured Indian pilot.

In a telephonic call to Prime Minister Imran Khan, he said Islam is a religion of peace that underscores resolving disputes in a peaceful manner.

Prime Minister Imran briefed President Erdogan on the situation as it evolved over the past few days and the efforts he made to de-escalate the crisis. He also referred to the extremely difficult situation in Indian occupied Kashmir and the brutalities inflicted upon the Kashmiri people.

The prime minister thanked President Erdogan for his constant support for Pakistan and the Kashmiri people.

President Dr Arif Alvi also received a telephone call from his Turkish counterpart. He highlighted that Prime Minister Imran Khan, in his two addresses to the nation after the Pulwama incident, adopted a conciliatory tone and urged India to give peace a chance.

The president said Pakistan wants to see peace in the region to focus on its agenda of socio-economic development. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he understands Pakistan’s position in the present scenario.
