Moenjodaro board reconstituted

After the devolution of the National Fund for Moenjodaro (NFM) to the provincial government, the Sindh Culture Department has reconstituted the NFM’s executive board. According to an official handout issued here on Tuesday, the management’s overall control and supervision of the fund shall rest with the executive board, which would be headed by the provincial culture minister as its chairperson. The board of directors will include a representative of the UNESCO, the Sindh Circle of Archeology Hyderabad director and an eminent personality from Larkana, while the culture secretary will act as its member/ secretary.
The new management of the executive board will balance amount, as inherited from the federal government, subject to the reconstitution with the banks concerned and any contribution made by in-country or international public / private organisations/ bodies to the fund. The fund shall be utilised exclusively for the preservation and future development of the Moenjodaro site, particularly for the protection and appropriate maintenance of spurs/structures built for protection from the Indus River floods; appropriate maintenance of tube-well drains and other structures built to protect from water logging and salinity; measures for conservation work of the structures; development of landscape of the Moenjodaro Park; measures to develop the site as a tourists’ attraction spot and any other activity that may be required. The conduct of business by the executive board shall be o make procedures/rules for its meetings and discharge its functions/ responsibilities, including the terms and conditions of service of its staff/secretariat; TA/ DA, remunerations, etc.
