ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the National Command Authority (NCA) which reviewed the situation after India’s Line of Control (LoC) violation and Pakistan Air Force’s downing of two intruding Indian jets.
The NCA is the apex civilian-led command headed by the prime minister to oversee the policy formulation, exercises, deployment, research and development, employment and operational command and control of the country’s nuclear arsenal.
The meeting was attended by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, the chiefs of all three services, DG ISI and other senior officials.
Sources said that in response to Indian intrusion, the meeting discussed strategy and measures for retaliation and expressed satisfaction over them.
During the meeting, the DG ISPR gave detailed briefing on the security mechanism of the nuclear arsenal and expressed satisfaction over the fool-proof security measures.
It was decided in the meeting that Pakistan is capable of defending itself in every way and will maintain the capability of nuclear deterrence.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran chaired a meeting of the National Security Committee on Tuesday in which he directed that “elements of national power, including the Armed Forces and the people of Pakistan, should remain prepared for all eventualities”.
Moreover, the NSC rejected India’s claims of targeting an alleged militant training camp near Balakot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in an airstrike in the wee hours of the day, and announced that “Pakistan will respond to uncalled-for Indian aggression at a time and place of its choosing”.
It had concluded that India committed an attack that was uncalled for; to which Pakistan shall respond at the time and place of its choosing.
