ISLAMABAD: A meeting of leaders of parliamentary parties in National Assembly (NA) on Tuesday decided to receive in camera briefing from institutions of national security about the current situation arising out of Indian violation of airspace of Pakistan.
NA Speaker Asad Qaiser chaired the meeting of leaders of parliamentary parties belonging to the government and opposition benches in the lower house.
The in-camera briefing would be followed by meetings of parliamentary parties in which members will hold consultations.
After these meetings, the joint session of parliament would be held and legislators would discuss the current security situation.
The speaker said that it was his prime responsibility to take leaders of parliamentary parties into confidence on the current situation regarding peace and security in the region.
He said that the whole country had the same voice on countering the war hysteria of India, adding all political parties were on the same page for national solidarity and defence of the country. He expressed appreciation for the members of NA for debating the issue of India’s hostility.
The political parties and the nation would be kept informed about the current situation through leaders of parliamentary parties, the speaker added.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi briefed the participants of the meeting about his contacts with the international community regarding the Indian aggression.
Finance Minister Asad Umar, Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan, Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri, Amir Dogar, Ghous Bux Mehr, Aminul Haque, Agha Hassan Baloch, Maulana Wasey, Syed Naveed Qamar, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Khalid Hussain Magsi and Kishwar Zahra attended the meeting.
