Two persons, including a distinguished lawyer, were killed and one injured seriously when two rival groups clashed over a six square feet of garbage dumping site, locally known as ‘dhairan’, on Tuesday.
Police said there was a dispute over a ‘dhairan’ between two influential families of Ismalia, Sher Shah Khan and Istikhar Khan Advocate, as both the groups considered the tiny place an honour for themselves and wanted to acquire it by every possible means.
A local journalist told Pakistan Today that some jirga members Monday failed in their attempt to settle the dispute due to rigid stance adopted by the rivals. Eyewitnesses said Istikhar and other armed men visited Bakht Shahid’s house and forced to act as a witness in their cases pending before the court but he did not agree.
After the refusal, Istikhar opened fire and killed Bakht in the front of his house.
However, when he tried to flee the scene the brothers of the deceased targeted him and shot him dead on the spot. Saif-ul-Islam, an accomplice of Istikhar, also received serious wounds. Both the parties have got registered FIRs against each other at Kalu Khan Police Station.
