The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) staged a sit-in in front of the National Press Club (NPC) on Tuesday against the drone attacks, the deteriorating law and order situation in the country, target killing and for the recovery of missing persons in Balochistan. The protestors said that the ‘outside interference’ sabotaged peace in Balochistan. They also announced ‘jihad’ against the incumbent government. Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Mian Aslam said that the Baloch were disappointed with the government and the judiciary. He said that the interior minister claimed that ‘foreign hands’ were involved in anarchy in Karachi, however was silent on the prevailing situation in Balochistan. He questioned the presence of Indian councils on the borders of Balochistan. He regretted that several women were missing in Balochistan. He said that the presence of American forces in Balochistan was a reason behind all the crisis and government should take out all the outside forces from the province. He said that former president Musharraf started the operation in Balochistan and the incumbent government strengthened it further despite is tall claims to end discrimination against Baloch. Islamabad Chapter JI Deputy Ameer Hafiz Tanveer said that many people in Balochistan and Karachi had become victims of target killing while the government was paying no heed towards the issue. He was of the view that Aghaz-e-Haqooq Balochistan package was also an attack on Balochistan. “Today, everyone is questioning the government about its promises made in the said package,” he added. He claimed that slogans of hatred in Balochistan were common but JI took steps to convert the hatred into love for which they staged a countrywide protest.
