ISLAMABAD: Minister for Communications Murad Saeed, while addressing a National Assembly (NA) session on Friday, slammed the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif for his controversial interview which was used as evidence by Indian counsel in Kalbhushan Jadav case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Indian lawyer Harish Salve, while replying to Pakistan’s arguments, recalled an earlier interview by the former premier in which “Sharif had acknowledged Pakistan’s role in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks”.

“[This] incident brought a negative impact to Pakistan and [it] portrayed the ousted Prime Minister as a traitor,” Saeed lamented.

While expressing his displeasure over the incident, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) stalwart said that “it indeed is a matter of shame that a three-time Prime Minister could make such a treacherous statement which was viewed by the international community as evidence against Pakistan”.

“Can anything be more unfortunate than this?” Saeed asked the house.

Observing that India is issuing war threats to Pakistan, the ruling Member of the National Assembly (MNA) said that “Pakistan should send a strong message to them [India] that we will retaliate [if a war is imposed]”.

Saeed also opposed the issuance of production orders for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique and said that “if a person has not committed an offence that he should fight his case in the court”.
