A case has been registered against the members of a family for assaulting an anti-polio worker in the Gulberg area of Faisalabad, a private media outlet reported Wednesday.

According to police, the anti-polio worker, Ali Haidar, and his team were administering polio drops to children in the Jinnah Colony when members of a family refused to get their kids vaccinated.

When Haidar tried to administer the drops, the family overpowered and assaulted him. The Gulberg police registered a case against the family on the anti-polio worker’s complaint and have started probing the matter.

An anti-polio drive is continuing across the country in full swing after Focal Person to Prime Minister on Polio Eradication Babar Atta confirmed that another poliovirus case had been reported in Hangu.

He had said that the case took the toll of polio cases reported in the current year to four with one each in Bajour, Bannu, Lahore, and Hangu.
