KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday dismissed the bail plea of Chakra Goth incident accused and asked the trial court to proceed on daily basis.
The accused was arrested in connection to the Korangiís Chakra Goth attack in 2011, in which over a half-a-dozen police commandoes embraced martyrdom.
A two-member bench of the SHC heard the bail plea filed by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activist Gul Muhammad and others.
Azra Iqbal, the defending counsel, told the court that “state was using delaying tactics against his client in the case”. To which, the state prosecutor answered that witnesses were being produced on court orders.
The court, then, sought an updated investigation report by March 6.
Iqbal upheld that the court, after rejecting the bail plea, had ordered resolving the case within three months. She submitted to the court that innocent people were behind the prison due to delay in the court proceedings.
“This is a humanitarian issue,” she asserted.
The court remarked that all accused termed themselves innocent.
