KARACHI: An elderly man died of a cardiac arrest during a police raid in Metroville area of the city on late Saturday night.
According to the details, a police team raided a house in Iqbal market during which 61-year-old Abdul Kareem was present. Seeing the police suddenly gave him a shock and he died of a heart attack.
Police said that the deceased man and his son were wanted in an attempted murder case; therefore, the raid was conducted in order to arrest them.
Later, the deceased’s family and area people staged a protest against the raid.
Abdul Kareem’s son said that the case against them is based on false terms. “The police dragged my father away to the police mobile where he died of the heart attack,” he alleged.
The deceased man was said to be a general secretary of Gaddani Ship-breaking yard association.
The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
