LAHORE: Unidentified armed motorcyclists gunned down a man outside a sessions court and fled the scene on Saturday morning.
The victim, identified as Bilal, had arrived at the court to obtain an interim bail in a case concerning his decision to marry out of his own volition. The case was lodged by Bilal’s in-laws, accusing him of kidnapping their daughter.
According to the police, before Bilal could enter the court premise on Saturday, unknown armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at him outside the Baba Ground Gate of the court and fled the scene.
The critically injured victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
A case has been registered into the incident and further probe is underway.
Meanwhile, a sessions judge has expressed outrage over the negligence of the cops on duty and for not retaliating. He has sought a report from the police besides ordering immediate action against the attackers.
