LAHORE: Cricket team’s head coach Mickey Arthur has held both team and management responsible for the humiliating defeat in the series against South Africa.
Green shirts lost the Test series by 3-0, ODIs by 3-2 and T20s by 2-1 to the Proteas.
Stressing upon the improvement of technique to bat on fast and grassy pitches, Arthur said that “we have a lot of work to do with our Test side”.
“I honestly believe that our white ball team is in pretty good shape,” he said while referring towards team’s performance in the limited overs game.
Albeit green shirts lost the ODI series but Arthur was satisfied because the “green team did put up a fight and that their spirit against Protease was commendable”.
Whilst commenting on the racial remarks made by captain Sarfraz Ahmed, Arthur said: “whatever done was wrong but it was worked through. Safi [Sarfraz] took it on the chin. He apologized and moved forward.”
Arthur also told the media that “he will select [players] with Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq and [with the consent of] the selection panel [to select] the best possible combination to win the 2019 World Cup”.
