President Asif Ali Zardari has issued strict orders for resettling the migrated Katchhi community in their homes in Lyari, besides restoring peace in Karachi at any cost.
Orders were issued when the president was chairing a meeting at the Bilawal House to discuss the law and order situation of the city, especially in Lyari.
Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wasan, Member National Assembly Qadir Patel, provincial minister Rafiq Engr, Katchhi Rabita Committee (KRC) representative Hussain Katchhi and senior officials of the Sindh Police attended the meeting.
After the meeting, the home minister told the media that the president has ordered that peace should be restored in the city and action should be taken against criminals in Lyari. “There is a need to take strict action, besides restoring law and order,” he added.
Rafiq Engr stated that undemocratic forces do not want peace in the city. Development of Lyari was dream of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, he added.
“Conflict between the Katchhi community and the People’s Amn Committee is a conflict between two brothers. Both are voters of Pakistan People’s Party. This issue will be resolved shortly,” Rafiq Engr told the media.
Hussain Katchhi told the media that the president has issued special orders to present a detailed report on the Lyari conflict.
The president also issued orders for the resettlement of the displaced Katchhi people of Lyari. He said that 2,000 to 3,000 Katchhi people had left their houses and migrated to Malir. In the meeting, a committee was also formed to probe into the killing of Pakistan International Airlines People’s Unity President Aamir Shah.
