KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday ordered that documents against former president Asif Ali Zardari’s sister, Faryal Talpur, be submitted in court as it heard the Iqama case against Talpur, Suhail Anwar Siyal, Manzoor Wassan, and others.

The petition takes issue with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders for holding work permits of foreign countries and not disclosing them in their nomination papers.

During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel, Khawaja Shamsul Islam, argued that the Iqama had played a major role in the disqualification of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Hence, the judgment should also be applicable to Talpur, and her accumulation of assets that are beyond known sources of income should be investigated.

He contended that the report submitted by the joint investigation team (JIT) probing the money laundering case has “proved everything” and Talpur should be disqualified from concealing her foreign work permit.

Then, the court ordered the petitioner’s counsel to submit documents in the case against Faryal.

Since her counsel, Farooq H Naek was absent from court, the hearing was adjourned till February 15.
