LAHORE: Punjab Ombudsperson on Thursday penalised the headmaster of a government school for harassing a regular female teacher.

The teacher had earlier lodged a complaint of sexual harassment at workplace against the influential headmaster.

According to a statement issued here, the allegations of harassment were proved and the headmaster was imposed upon penalty stoppage of annual increment for a period of five years.

“This would go a long way to curb the menace of sexual harassment in sacred organisations like educational institutions. Teachers will now face such traumatic circumstances with courage and a firm belief that their grievances would be redressed in the shortest possible time,” the statement said.
