Qureshi meets Oman’s vice-president, discusses bilateral ties

MUSCAT: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on the second day of his visit to the brotherly country of Oman called on Vice-President Syed Fahad Bin Muhammad Al-Syed.

Bilateral relations, regional situation including vital regional and international affairs were discussed in the meeting between Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Vice-President Syed Fahad Bin Muhammad Al-Syed.

Shah took the Vice-President into confidence over Pakistan’s point of view on important regional issues including Afghanistan.

On the occasion, the two leaders agreed to take forward bilateral relations and bolster mutual relations pertaining to business.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi, talking on the occasion, said that Pakistan respects it relations with brotherly country Oman while the host Vice-President praised the role of residing Pakistan community.

Yesterday, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had held a meeting with his Omani counterpart Yusuf bin Alawi at the Foreign Office of Oman where Shah extended his invitation to the Omani leader to visit Pakistan.

The foreign ministers exchanged views on the latest situation of the region and also reviewed methods to increase mutual cooperation between both sides.

Pakistan’s Minister highlighted upon the policy of Prime Minister Imran Khan for creating friendly relations with the neighbouring countries.

He said that Senate Friendship Group will be made active to increase people to people contacts between both Oman and Pakistan.

Earlier on Monday, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi arrived in Muscat, Oman on a two-day visit to the country.

Talking to media in Islamabad prior to his departure for Oman, the Foreign Minister claimed that Oman is an important regional country, and Pakistan and Oman enjoy long-term and friendly relations.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan will continue its positive role for regional peace and stability. He said that he will take the Omani leadership into confidence regarding the situation in Afghanistan.

He also stated that during his visit to the country, he will also meet Pakistani diaspora living in Oman.
