PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday admitted a petition seeking the eviction of Frontier Constabulary (FC) from a fort in the Bara tehsil of Khyber tribal district.

A two-member bench of the PHC headed by Chief Justice Waqar Ahmed Saith and comprising Justice Ayub Khan would hear the petition filed by Raza Khan Malikdinkhel.

Counsel of the petitioner, Muhim Afridi, has submitted on his client’s behalf that Malikdinkhel who is the owner of the piece of land where the fortress, Fort Saloop, was built has not been compensated for his property despite repeated requests to senior officials, including the Khyber deputy commissioner (DC) who refused any assistance.

The owner further claims that the fort was built without his permission.

The petition was admitted for hearing while notices were issued to the fort’s commander and the Khyber DC to submit their replies on the matter before the court.

Fort Saloop was built on an area of 128-kanals in the Sur Dhand area of Bara in 2005 before the a series of security operations was launched against terrorist outfits in erstwhile Khyber Agency.
