KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday directed the provincial government to devise a policy for issuance of licenses for prohibited and non-prohibited weapons.

Hearing a petition, the court said the federal government’s ban on automatic weapons licenses was no more effective and the Sindh government now has authority to allow extension in the license period or order its issuance.

During the hearing, the additional advocate general told the court that Sindh Arms Rules have already been formed. The court directed him to enact a new arms policy in the light of Pakistan Arms Ordinance and Sindh Arms Rules.
