Pakistan is desperately in need of a democratic government that is supported by the military and the bureaucracy, former president and All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) chief Pervez Musharraf said while addressing the inaugural ceremony of APML office in Texas (United States). He said both the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim Leagues Nawaz (PML-N) had lost in the military and the bureaucracy.
According to a media communiqué by local party office, Musharraf underscored that when he assumed power in 1999 the country was on the verge of bankruptcy but with day-in and day-out struggle of few years, Pakistan was added to the list of countries with the fastest growth and progress ratio.
In 2006, Pakistan refused to take foreign aid from IMF, Musharraf said. Both the leading institutions of the country including military and bureaucracy were not supporting PPP as well as PML-N due to incompetent and incapable leadership of these parties, Musharraf said. Next general elections in the country will prove to be the mother of all elections.
