Ushna glory run continues in Rwanda

LAHORE: Pakistan Under-18 national tennis champion Ushna Suhail has reached the singles and doubles quarter-finals of the ITF Junior at Rwanda, East Africa, it was learnt on Tuesday. Ushna is seeded fifth in the Grade-IV ITF tournament and won her match in straight sets. In the singles, Ushna defeated Wendy Chen of Kenya in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Ushna displayed excellent skills in the second round and did not let her opponent take more than a single game in each set.
In the first set, Ushna displayed good baseline game and won 6-1. In the second set, her opponent tried to fight back hitting long rallies but Ushna responded with good serves and won the set 6-1. She will now face Ilka Csoregi of Romania in the singles. Ushna also reached the quarter-finals of the doubles event.
Pairing with Nikita Dawda from Kenya, she will play against Yasmin Ebada of Egypt (337 in ITF ranking) and Ilka Csoregi of Romania. After her last week’s performance, Ushna’s world ranking has improved. She is currently 399th in ITF ranking.
