ISLAMABAD: Former opposition leader in National Assembly (NA) Syed Khursheed Shah on Tuesday said that a parliamentary committee should have been formed rather than a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the Sahiwal massacre.
He said this in an informal chat with the journalists outside Parliament House on Tuesday.
He said that an alliance was not forged between the government and its allies on merit. It was formed taking into account the prevailing situation and now the allied parties are annoyed with the government for not making any consultations with them over any matter because the federal government thinks that as they have given share to the allied parties in power and given them speakership, therefore, the allied parties are destitute to them, he added.
“Now who can make the federal government understand that government has come into being only due to its allied parties,” he remarked. In fact, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has no vision or thinking, he added.
Shah said that the nation is very saddened by the Sahiwal incident. A parliamentary committee should have been formed and not the JIT to probe into this incident, he added. Sahiwal massacre is the outcome of incompetence of the Punjab government, he observed.
Responding to a question, he said that that the opposition will see if any wind of change blows in Punjab. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has not contacted anyone for a change of the government in Punjab, he added.
