The Peshawar Police on Friday forced the occupants of a diplomatic vehicle back to Islamabad after they had failed to produce the no objection certificate (NOC) issued either by the Foreign Ministry or the Interior Ministry. Police said three foreigners were on board in a US consulate vehicle when they were stopped at Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway toll plaza.
They were asked to present the NOC issued from the ministries concerned, but they refused to do so, police sources said. The consulate officials remained at the check post for around two hours and then agreed to return to Islamabad, sources added. Though the exact identity of the foreigners could not be established but the police suspected that two of them were US nationals while the third was a Norwegian.
