Last week, Pakistan’s foreign office confirmed that the UAE had suspended the issuance of new visas to Pakistani nationals in other countries due to coronavirus health restrictions. It was later clarified that the suspension does not apply to holders of valid visas. Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Zulfiqar Bukhari has denied media reports that the UAE has suspended work visas for Pakistanis. Bukhari said UAE Minister of Human Resources and UAE Nasir bin Thanwi al-Hamli had confirmed that “it is clearly stated that there are no restrictions on the export of Pakistani manpower.” He added that the UAE is also giving preference to those workers registered in the Virtual Labor Market database and encouraging applications for 10-year Golden Visa.
