Police, CTD arrest suspected militant from Charsadda

CHARSADDA: The police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) during a joint operation on Wednesday arrested a suspected terrorist belonging to the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

According to a superintendent of police (investigation), security forces not only arrested the suspect but also recovered two hand grenades and an AK-47 rifle from him.

The official also said the accused has admitted to having taken part in multiple terrorist activities in the Mohmand and Charsadda districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“He confessed to martyring nine officers of the paramilitary forces (Khasadars) during different operations,” he said.

“CTD Mardan has confirmed that more than seven cases have been registered against him in the past.”

The SP added the terrorist had assisted suicide bombers in the Tangi Kachehri and Ghalani incidents, while he had also martyred a soldier of the Pakistan Army.
