WAH CANTT: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that technological up-gradation, modernisation and indigenous development to attain self-reliance in defence production are vital to meet challenges of the future battlefield.
The army chief said this during his visit to Pakistan Ordnance Factories at Wah on Friday, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Appreciating POF management and staff, the Army Chief termed POF a force behind the Armed Forces serving as backbone in defence of Pakistan.
According to the military’s media wing, the COAS was given a detailed briefing on performance of various production units of POF. The briefing focused on targets achieved, future projects, envisaged modernisation for cost effective and sustainable production and acquisition of modern technology in line with prevailing operational requirements of Pakistan armed forces.
The army chief was also apprised of POF endeavours for international ventures focusing on exports to contribute to national exchequer. He visited the display lounge where newly developed defence products were showcased.
Earlier on arrival, the COAS Chief was received by POF Chairman Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar.
Earlier on November 7, army chief visited logistic installations of Lahore Corps. During interaction with troops, General Bajwa said that efficient and smooth logistics will enhance the overall operational readiness and response capacity against adventurism by the enemy, the military’s media wing said.
