In light of the second wave of the coronavirus, an official notification from the Punjab government has ordered that 50 per cent of the staff of public and private offices should work from home in order to prevent further spread of the respiratory disease.
The notification was issued by the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department on Monday and said that the order would remain in effect until January 31, 2021.
Earlier today, a similar decision was taken regarding the closure of schools until January 11, 2021. After a meeting with all the provincial education ministers, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood had announced during a news conference that students will take classes remotely until December 24, 2020.
“All ministers have mutually decided that to keep all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, universities, and tuition centres closed. However, online classes will continue from November 26 to December 24 after which winter break will start. Schools will reopen on January 11, 2021,” Mahmood said.
