KARACHI: An accountability court here on Monday deferred the indictment of Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani in an assets beyond means case against him.
Durrani along with his co-accused appeared before the court, while three other accused including Shamshad Khatton failed to show up.
The accused stated that due to coronavirus outbreak, they were unable to reach the court and sought exemption from appearance.
Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing of the case till August 11.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested Durrani from a hotel in Islamabad in February last year. He faces an inquiry for accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income as well as allegations that he had embezzled public funds.
