Chinese envoy extends Ramadan greetings

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing on Saturday extended warm wishes to the government and the people of Pakistan upon the beginning of Ramadan, hoping that the nation will soon overcome the challenges posed by the coronavirus.

In a video message shared by the Chinese embassy’s Twitter account, Mr Jing said, “As the holy month of Ramadan comes, I sincerely wish my dear Pakistani brothers and sister Ramadan Mubarak.”

“Right now, there is a challenging moment as the whole Pakistani nation is fighting against the spread of coronavirus. At this moment, [the] Chinese government, and Chinese people, as well as the Chinese community in Pakistan, are extending all the possible assistance and support for its fight against the virus”

Mr Jing observed that the Chinese government has “provided millions of testing kits and other equipment for the Pakistani government and the people”. “Several medical teams from China are working along with your doctors and nurses, in containing this virus,” he added.

“I pay my tributes to the sacrifice and efforts by the Pakistani government and the people at this critical moment.”

“I believe that under the able leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan and the government of Pakistan, […] as well as its nation, will finally overcome the challenge.”

“I like to once again present my sincere and best wishes to the whole Pakistani nation. I wish a healthy, safe, and happy Ramadan ahead,” he concluded.
