ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Dr Sania Nishtar on Tuesday said the government will extend support to every segment of society in order to cope with the challenges posed by the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
According to a report, the Ehsaas emergency cash program will be launched shortly to support 12 million families during the epidemic.

In the first phase, Rs150bn have been allocated for the scheme under which each family will be provided with Rs12,000 stipend in a lump sum, initially for a period of four months.
Nishtar said that SMS codes will be issued in a day or two to enable the deserving families to apply for this program and get the cash grant from banks.
“Those already registered with and benefitting from Ehsaas Kafalat and the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) programs will also be eligible to receive the monthly stipend,” she announced.
The SAPM further announced that an Ehsaas Ration Donation Coordination platform is also being launched which will connect philanthropists to the needy.
