ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Tuesday decided to indict Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, his sister MNA Faryal Talpur and other suspects in the Park Lane and mega money laundering cases on January 22.
Accountability Judge Azam Khan conducted the hearing of the cases. Talpur appeared before the court whereas Zardari’s counsel Farooq Naek filed a petition on his client’s behalf, seeking exemption from appearance on medical grounds.
Naek told the court that the former president is undergoing medical treatment in Karachi. The court directed all suspects to ensure their presence during the next hearing as it will issue indictments.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigation officer told the court that nine more suspects have been included in the supplementary reference in the money laundering case whereas five suspects have been removed from the list.
Notices were served to Zardari, Talpur, Anwar Majeed, Abdul Ghani Majeed, Nimar Majeed, Hussain Lawai, Younus Kidwai and others accused in the supplementary reference.
The hearing in the said cases was adjourned till January 22.
