PESHAWAR: At least 11 individuals were injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in an auto-rickshaw outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations), Zahoor Afridi, police and bomb disposal unit teams reached the site of the incident within minutes whereas the squad confirmed that the IED had four to five kilograms of explosives.
The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital where one of the victims was stated to be in critical condition.
The police were investigating the incident further at the time of this report’s filing, however, the driver has been taken in custody.

Rescue sources said that injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.
A spokesperson for the hospital told a private media outlet that the injured, including a police officer, are out of danger. He said the emergency unit is on high alert and the injured are being provided with immediate aid.
