Raiwind Diocese conducts utilitarian workshops on midwifery, mental health

LAHORE: The inauguration ceremony of an integrated workshop on midwifery, mental health and water and Sanitation was held at the St. Peter’s School of the Diocese of Raiwind the other day.

The workshop is a joint effort of the Dar Ul Musarrat of Diocese of Raiwind, Sussex Institute of Neuropsychiatry and Centre for Profound Education Trust. The trainers of these workshops were renowned clinical psychiatrist Dr Shakeel Jehangir Malik, Prof Barbara Parfitt, Rebecca Telling, Christopher Nazir Ali, Sajida Aziz, Tanveer Afzal and Gwen Ratcliff.

Bishop Michael Nazir Ali was the prime guest, Dr Mariam Malik was the chief guest and Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid was the guest of honour.

Michelle Samuel, on behalf of Bishop of Raiwind Rt Rev Dr Azad Marshall, welcomed the guests and shared his keen interest for the development of initiatives for autism and midwifery training workshops and seminars.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, she said that Bishop Dr Azad was committed to developing the Christian nursing sector from the church’s own resources.

Dr Mariam Malik was deeply appreciative of the initiative to honour the critical role played by midwives. Bishop Michael stressed on the need to raise the profile of both these areas of influence and service.

Dr Yasmeen Rashid encouraged those who are actively involved in the efforts of these institutions, working for healthier, safer and resilient Pakistan in coming days.
