LAHORE: Over 2,000 Sikh pilgrims from India arrived here on Wednesday to attend the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak.
Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) Pardhan Sardar Satwant Singh along with Sikh leaders and Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) officials welcomed pilgrims at Wagha border.
Speaking on the occasion, Sikh religious leader Baba Parindar Pal Singh Kiani said he was very pleased to have come to Pakistan, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan had done a great job by facilitating their visit.
PSGPC Pardhan Sardar Satwant Singh said ETPB Chairman Dr Amir Ahmad made special arrangements including accommodation, journey, medical and foolproof security for Sikh yatrees during their stay in Pakistan. All gurdwaras were also renovated owing to the ETPB’s efforts, he added.
Soon after their arrival, pilgrims left for Guru Nanak’s Janimisthan in Nankana Sahib. The pilgrims will go to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur Narowal to perform their rituals.
The main ceremony will be held on November 12 at Nankana Sahib.
