The students of the University of Balochistan sought the removal of the Frontier Corps checkposts from the varsity as well as restoration of student unions as their protest entered 17th consecutive day on Wednesday.
The students had gone on protest after reports emerged regarding harassment of girl students via secretly installed video cameras on the university premises.
The videos were recorded using at least six cameras that were secretly installed at various spots in the university’s Quetta campus, in addition to the already existing official CCTV cameras. The students had demanded the removal of the vice-chancellor of the university, who stepped down from the post last week.

On Tuesday, the FIA had submitted its investigation report into the allegations of blackmailing and harassment to the chief justice of the BHC.
The FIA requested BHC Chief Justice Jamal Khan Mandhokhail to not make the report public till the investigation is completed. The chief justice agreed to the request.
However, the top BHC judge shared the report with members of the special committee of the Balochistan Assembly constituted by the assembly’s speaker Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo on a demand by the treasury and opposition members over the scandal. The BHC chief justice also stressed the need to keep the report confidential.
