Doctors’ strike enters 34th day in KP

PESHAWAR: A strike of the Grand Health Alliance (GHA) in government hospitals of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa entered its 34th day. Due to this ongoing strike and suspension of services, patients are facing inconvenience.

At Lady Reading Hospital’s Out-Patient Departments (OPD), five to six thousand patients come for treatment on a daily basis but return disappointed due to the doctors’ strike.

The negotiations to resolve the issues between the GHA and the provincial government have not begun even after a month.

About 45,000 employees at 1,500 government-owned facilities are on strike while their leaders have met political leaders and employ unions of other departments to obtain their support.

Protesting doctors have demanded the resignation of Provincial Health Minister Hisham Inamullah Khan.
